However, I have two young children, so have to be!
I have a massive "spring" clean, every few months, and either bin or bag up everything we no longer use/need and give to charity.
This is usually toys, and clothes... both mine and the kids. (Clothes, not toys!!!)
I honestly can't stand clutter/mess, and I certainly couldn't sleep in a room that was messy or unorganised. I think, once a bedroom has been completely spring cleaned, you sleep better.
Get some music on, though probably not at this time, and get a few black bags.
One for rubbish, one for charity, and one for "keep"... then go from there.
My wardrobe is my main problem, as I have boxes and boxes of shoes, which I can't bear to part with!
