Beauty Treatments for 10 Year Olds

What are your feelings on girls as young as 10 being taken to beauty salons for facials, eyebrow shaping, manicures and fake tans?  This was a subject on TV a.m. this morning.

Having been a beauty therapist myself i never did any treatments on anyone below 16, I think the media had actually helped somewhat into making girls want to be women alot quicker than ever these days we had to do an assignment into this and its quite scary just what kind of a hold they have over alot of peoples choices etc. I think if girls as young as 10 want to do this sort of thing they should experiment at home themselves, i used to and im sure lots of us did too, i remember being about 6 and walking around in my mums high heels lol. Its all part of growing up but it seems to be a pressure for girls to grow up quicker than ever, then, when we get to our mid 20's its oh i dont want to be growing up now what can i do to reverse the effects. Such a shame.........

Outrageous. Kids are growing up far too quickly these days anyway. This should not be encouraged. I can't understand all these 12 year olds going to fake tans and stuff. I am only 33 and now I sound so old but "what is the world coming to?!"

My daughter is only 7 and she has seen both my husband and I shaving and it has become a secrative but habitual occurance. She shaves her legs about 2 times a week altho I have told her (after a lengthy lecture) that she should wait until they grow and I will wax them. (I have a prof wax kit and she has seen me wax my legs).

i am a beautician with 2 young daughters aged 6 and 13,and  although i am against carrying out certain treatments on young gilrs,i do feel that some treatments are beneficial to them!

when girls reach the age of 10 they are starting to make the transformation into young ladies,and their skins change,they need to know how to look after thier skin properly so that when they hit their teens and later years they already have the knowledge there to look after their skin,treating a10year old to a basic facial is a very good way to make her feel very special and help her to learn the important basics on looking after thier skin

i have no problems in giving young girls a basic facial as long as their parent is present

the same with eyebrow shaping,and fake tans,they want to feel special  and a fake tan is less risky than them going outside to sunbathe,eyebrow shaping isnt a bad treatment,and it can make them feel a bit grown up-i have just plucked my eldest girls eyebrows for her and it had changed the whole appearance of her face,she is very happy with it

i am also a qualified nail technician and i have given both of my girls manicures-just becaus ehtey are yound doesnt mean that they cant have a little bit of specail treatment adapted to their age!we all like to feel pampered and its no different for yound girls!
