numbness in fingers and bad back

my fella had a numb feeling in his little finger and now it also in his finger next to thumb on left hand he can move it but just feels numb why is this.he has had quite a lot of probs with his back as in keeps getting trapped nerves never in same place and now his lower back feels bruiced even though he hasnt hit it on anything..he keeps on going to work as he not the sort to stay off ,is this all something he needs to worry about or is there a reason.he dont get loads of excercise as he job has he sat at desk but he does walk when he can etc...any ideas anyone

Odd distribution of numbness, little finger and index finger.....doesn't fit into any disease process that I recognise.

Monitor the situation for the next 2-3 weeks.
