actor? / film?

hi all,

i'm hoping someone just might be able to help here, but i doubt it very much, as i know i'm going to be a bit vague with the ol' details,

i'm after the name of an actor and even the drama/film that he was in, if possible..

ok, here goes..

i remember seeing it when i was young, so it would be late 70s early 80s,
it was a tense, thriller type drama/film,
it starred a 50ish year old male, with a broad scottish accent, greased, greying, receeding hair, curlyish at the nape of the neck, flatish face with a flatish nose, a bit on the ugly side! wearing a grey over coat,

and the only two bits in the film that i remember are..

1) there was an eery chase going on in an empty office block and on the stair wells, scaring me to death, with this fella doing the creeping around and doing the chasing..
2) and an then another eery scene of him being present in an empty kiddies playground, with big, pieces of concrete tubing there for the kids to play in, and the person was trying to hide from him in one of them, but you saw the fella menacingly peering down the opening of the tubing at them, having finally caught up with them..

and that's it i'm afraid, that's all i can recall,
but it's been bugging me for years and would love to know who the actor was, and what the film/programme was..

a long shot i know, but if anyone could help, please?!? :o)

it was british,
and i have a feeling it was a one off, so probably a film..?

(in my mind, i can see the scottish fella!..lol.. grrrr)

If he was a Scottish actor, how old would he be now approx? Maybe a name on this list might ring a bell as you read through it.

JTH, don't think he would have looked like that in the 70/80s? Sure he was quite dark haired.

thanks jackthehat, but no, it's not him.
the one i'm thinking of isn't very good looking attall, got a bit of a flat nose, as though he's been bashed with a frying pan.

But was it a new film 30 years ago? Could it have been 10/20/... years older than that?

Yes Maggie he did.

Loooby, he looked like he was in things like Tales of the Unexpected around that time which might fit with your film/drama description.

i'm determined to find it! lol
and i bet when i do, the 'frightening' film/half hour drama! that i saw when i was about 10 years old, will all seem very very tame, lol...
