my friend has been on the jab since she was about 15/16 and now shes 27 and is stopping it because she wants to try and have a baby with her husband

im just curious what exactly happens to your body when you come off the jab after youve been on it for sooo long

the only thing shes complained about is stomach cramps shes been off it for i think 2 months now - but i dont understand how your body can return to "normal" after being on the jab like i said for so long...

My last one was due at the end of December but I decided to stop taking it.

I did some reading up on it and it appears it's not uncommon for it to take 12-18 months for your periods to return once you stop. I think it depends a little on how long you've been having it for.
Oh, by 'jab' I'm assuming you mean depo provera.
Everyone is different. I had the implant which stopped my periods completely. I was also told it could take about a year for my periods to get back to normal. I had a period 28 days after I had it taken out....and every 28 days since.
15/16. thats a long time to have been using depo, we all react differently when stopping contaception.
I haven't had a hint of one yet, not that it bothers me. I have quite enjoyed the past six years period free.
I know, it's great.

lol thats what she says! shes had stomach cramps so far but apparently when she went last time they said things like "you probably wont be able to have a baby until your 30" and mentioned some kinda problem being on the jab for so long that screws up your bones... What The Funicular. i dont know much about it apart from that it stops your periods
It doesn't bugger up your bones, but it can increase the risk of Osteoporosis. That's one of the reasons why they moniter you every now and then when you go for a new jab.
They never warner me about Depo causing so many problems. I now only have Aunt Flo to stay every 3-4 months and I have Endometriosis and Adenomyosis... neither of which I had before the Depo (infact they were light and relatively easy).
Wish someone had warned me.
I stopped mine 8 years ago now!!!
