If I were a GP (and the nation can breathe a sigh of relief that I'm not) I think I would spend most of my time suspended in disbelief!
IBS (dodgy stomach), lactose intolerant (don't like milk), etc etc. When I was growing up in the 50's/60's these didn't exist.
Please someone tell me that NHS resources are put to better use.

I use soda for all my cleaning - as of now, it is harmless.
Thanks sasskins..................as a chronic IBS sufferer I wouldn't wish the condition on anyone, not even you.
sasskins.....I have a certain amount of sympathy for your post.
Did IBS exist in the 50's, was it misunderstood and misdiagnosed? I don't know.
You mention lactose intolerance and food allergies......yes.......they did and do exist, but not, surely, to the extent that they are diagnosed today.

MRI scans still have not defined many of the "newer " psychological disorders and blood tests and genotyping have not delineated any "allergic disorders " and of course the patients today have the " advantage " of the Internet to confuse or mislead them.

No sass....I can't but empathise with your post.

Thank you Sqad - I think!
I really wasn't meaning to offend anyone, I just think people over-react sometimes.
So what do you think IBS is sasskins?
Do you also think that autistic children are just naughty kids?
How can you over-react to a physical condition which make you really ill?

I know what it is craft - not prepared to argue with you though, as if I do I may be suspended.
Do you know what...I usually stay out of these things and probably should now but well said Sunny Dave [who I have always found to be a lovely member]. I for one am bored of the snarky comments made by the OP. So very rude.

there was a lot of ignorance in the past, people's problems were brushed aside, a lot of people suffered in silence. people with learning difficulties were locked up in hospitals away from public view which is probably why not many of these people were seen in the past.
Well back in the day the concept of the body as we know it didn't exist and it was all humors and bile... Things move on. Thankfully.
My grandma used to believe that if I stood on my head, all my innards slid up to the top. Thank goodness that we've moved on!
Question Author
I'm sorry Lisa - at what point was I rude?
I'm not arguing just absolutely livid that you can trivialise a real illness, which in effect, blights my life.
I take medication three times a day in an effort to counteract the problems caused but there are days on end when I am unable to even leave the house because of it's effects, and then you say on here that it's not a real condition.
Don't worry I won't say anything further on this thread as it will probably be me getting suspended, not you.
Question Author
Lmao @ boxtops
she has trivialised it because she is ignorant craft.
Question Author
Craft - I really do apologise if I caused offence.
I'm not for a minute saying there is no suffering with these ailments -I just think there are too many willing to jump on any particular bandwagon.

In your ultra sensitive opinion lisa
People go to the doctors with symptoms. It's the doctors that diagnose!!!
