I have at least two but more like 4 glasses of wine a day and more at a weekend. i don't drink shorts much except in winter when a bottle of spiced rum will last me about a week. I have maybe a couple of days a week wine free on occasion (!) but I actually love wine but don't crave it. According to statistics I consume around three times more than I should -i have to say I don;t give a flying F cos i have an active lifestyle and eat a healthy balanced diet, prepared at home (never ever bought a ready meal in my life) - so how much do you consume -if anything- and do you worry that its way over the 23 units advised a week?

I will give some reassurance - although I don't think you need it! I drink more than the "safe" limit and I couldn't give a damn! I enjoy my wine every evening and the amount varies according to how much I want to drink. I'm 54 and plan to continue eating and drinking as I please - and be HAPPY. Don't want to start watching everything I eat and drink and being -...

4 glasses = 1 bottle. But 4 glasses doesn't sound so bad...lol
14 units / week

Whatever answers are given on here, any GP worth his salt will multiply the same by a factor of at least 4 to arrive at a sensible figure. When asked by my GP how much I drank in a week I replied 28 units ( the "safe" recommended amount). "So I'll put you down for 112", was his reply. I hadn't the heart to tell him that even that was an underestimate.
A bottle of wine is NOT a unit Jayne, I know because my GP told me ;-)
bucket fulls
I don't drink.

I gulp.
"a bottle of wine is NOT a unit Jayne"

I think you'll find it is.

Isn't it?
I don't drink very much/often at all. Don't drink at home and usually just coke in the pub if just a quiet drink or pub quiz or something. Will happily drink on a night out though just don't go out out "partying" that often.

Loving these answers! - my GP said two glasses of wine a night would do more good than harm so I'm twice as healthy
Unofficially, in my world yes it is. However, strange folk with clipboards and glasses perched halfway down their nose say that a bottle is SIX units - ludicrous IMHO!!!
I STILL don't understand what a unit is. I have a gin or vodka and tonic every night. Get through 75cl bottle a fortnight. I have never been drunk in my life.
Very little, bought ten bottles of lager a couple of weeks ago, still got six left. I don't go to the pub either.
Well once one's opened the bottle one jolly well ought to finish it oughtn't one?
For working out weekly consumption ... weekends don't count, right?

I mean, obviously everyone gets trolleyed on Friday and Saturday nights.
On a positive note, cider (which I drink) and wine are made from fruit so must count towards your five a day!
Absolutely, ladybirder.

You can't waste wine when there are so many people around the world who don't have enough wine to drink.
How many times have you refilled the bottles, D97?
I doubt if I average 2 units a month - often go for weeks without alcohol. Don't need it.
Varies from week to week but I probably average the equivalent of about 4 pints a week, most on the Saturday.
