I know how you feel to be down about your size, sometimes I can't face going places where people will know me, but happier in the next town up where I can be fat old me!

I'm trying again now with just a normal low calorie diet and have joined "Onwards and Downwrads" which is a thread running on here with a group of like minded people. (We're just waiting for the...

have you thought of 'lighter life' first?
In what respect? Are you considering liposuction or gastric banding?

Your BMI could be a factor in both.

To be honest I've thought of everything! I've been to every slimming club under the sun, done slim fast etc. I think probs I'm looking at it as a quick fix and I know its really not. I'm getting so depressed about my size that I dont want to go out nd socialise :(
there are different sorts. Some of them are discussed here

either gastric band or the new one where they staple your stomach via the mouth
What is your BMI? Taking other criteria into account, would you qualify?

A bypass I assume?
It is a life style change, a life of taking pills to ensure you get enough vitamins If you can't do it without surgery, what makes you think you'll do it after?

How about giving it one more go with us and see if we can't lose a bit together this summer?

BMI is 38. Yes I know..I do wonder if it would make a difference if I cant do it now. Its all in the head not the stomach!

Here's a link to last month's thread to give you an idea what goes on and look out for April's when it appears any day now. Click on "Body and Soul" and there's a weight loss section. It'll be in there x

As suggested by others, see how it goes with a different weight loss diet/plan.

Surgery ought to be a last resort, however if you feel it is the only option in order to achieve the weight loss and dependant upon where you live you may qualify via the NHS.

If that's not a viable option, you may need to see a consultant surgeon in a private capacity.

However it pans out, best of luck.

Just saw your question and had to reply! Please, don't think of having surgery. This is such a serious (and dangerous) way to lose weight. I know that it's tempting when you've "tried everything" and not lost or kept off any loss, but surgery is really not the way to go. I had dieted again and again with little or no effect for years and finally lost the weight by adopting a low-carb diet. My sister (who was morbidly obese and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes) also lost her excess weight this way. It's easier than any diet you've ever tried and will cost you nothing! Give it a go. The first few days are hard, but it gets easier and easier - I eat this way out of choice now to keep my weight stable. For the science and what to eat/what to avoid see http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf Best of luck!

have just checked out your link. sounds excellent and am gonna try it! watch this space!! :)x
This might sound a bit loopy, but have you considered gastric band hypnotherapy? If you google it, plenty of websites will come up. A friend of mine tried it, and the results were just the same as though she'd had a gastric band (i.e. she didn't want to eat as much as before, and gradually lost weight), but without the risks associated with surgery.
