Brown fabric for wounds

Injured my arm and the nurse put some brown impregnated fabric on the gash before the bandage. Anyone know what it is?

Most likely an iodine dressing.
Id agree with daffy xx
Iodine.....a bit heavy........but could be.

Betadine is more likely.

This is the sort of thing I was thinking of sqad, they are impregnated with a dilute solution of iodine. I had them when I had my lung surgery and chest drain. Mind you that was 8 years ago now so they may not use them now.

daffy.....right.....could be.
yep, that's the stuff they used when I was in hospital, I'd had a 'pic'(?) line put in and it wouldn't stop bleeding, they took me off the ward and down to the A&E dept to sort it.

Many thanks for the info folks. The dressing was a good 'un so I thought of getting some in.
I've had them a few times on infected wounds - they ae good stuff!
Inadine is the name of the dressing.
