i went to a spiritualist many years ago, some of the things the lady told me did ring true but was not too sure wether i just wanted them too. I woundered if anyone had ever been to a spiritualist or medium and how they got on. I do believe in the other side after reading Doris Stokes book years ago. Trouble is i have never had any thing to make me disbelieve or any thing to make me believe 100%. Would love to hear all your views

Hi terrri, I went to a medium who did palm reading and cards, went to her twice but with about 6 years in between. The most recent one was the one i could remember mostly and i was not really interested in what she said about the future as i was sceptical but thought i could gauge how good she was by what she said about my past. She was so correct about certain things in my life that even my best friends did not know that i just burst into tears and she was then having to comfort me and give me tissues etc. as for future she told me i would have a little girl and i was not even considering other children but last year we had a daughter. Also the first thing she said to me as i got in the room was, you have a little boy who's name begins with c, charley or cameron and my son is charley. This totally frieked me out..... in a nice way though. So i believe but with a large pinch of salt. Hope this helps.
I went once - and she foretold that I would marry the man who was with me - it was my brother!!!!

Sorry Terri, I think it's aload of rubbish! It's well known that Doris Stokes had people listening to her audience talking while they were in the queue for her show, and if you ever saw one of her programmes you could see she was fishing for information like crazy.

The James Randi Foundation (JR is a leading sceptic) has had a million dollar prize on offer for years for anyone who could prove any type of supernatural/psychic powers - needless to say, the money has never been won! Have a look at his website to see how many of these tricks are done.

Having said that, I know lots of people do believe so I suppose it's up to you.

Hi terrj. Several years ago after losing both my parents within 18 months of each other I went to a spiritualist church with a friend.I was stunned when the reader pointed to me and told me that both my parents were beside me! She then gave me a perfect description of them along with some messages. I later had a private reading with her,she told me things that only I and my family could know. She said "Mums telling me that she's met Mary S. Mary S was my parents neighbour who had passed away recently. She even described Dads favorite shirt!!!!!!!
netibiza, You were conned, sorry Im giggling here:----)))

My sister & I went to a spiritualist & she told us to warn our nephew who was in the fire brigade to be very careful. Well we did tell our nephew Ray what she'd said, but he laughed it off.

many years later he injured his back attending a fire & he went on to retire early at 42 years of age.

The only thing is, he was given an excellent pension & a huge pay off. He has now sold his house in England & has bought a beautiful detached home with a pool, in Spain & has moved his family out there. His bad back has mysteriously healed, he no longer uses his so called walking stick & is now living the life of Riley!

So how do we know if the spiritualist was right after all?

My boyfriend's mother went to one last year. Apparently she described many things quite amazingly well. But overall I wouldnt rate the experience. I had an ectopic pregnancy a year before, and according to this medium it was a boy and was up in heaven or wherever with my boyfriends grandparents. Even though I wasnt there I found this piece of 'information' deeply distressing and wish I had never been told. I dont believe in the process at all, but cant help but be upset by what these people are prepared to tell you is fact.
I've been to spiritualist evenings and never been very convinced.  It's all so general.  My mum also had a reading of which I heard the CD recording and I didn't think that was very impressive either.  Derren Brown does a great job of exposing the way these people work.  However I do believe in life after death and I did read some of Doris Stokes' books many years ago and found them interesting.

what an interesting question ,i have enjoyed reading upon peoples experiences or not as the case may b. Im not  one to judge but i do feel a lot of it is nonsense and these people play on vulnerable people who want something to grab onto , something to keepthem close to the past is it really possible to forsee the future.... hear spirits..... read minds who knows the answer????

What would make me REALLY believe is if I went to a spiritualist and they told me that my Great Grandfather was there and was saying the name of his father was.........................

(Sorry, doing my family history and I'd love to know who my GG Grandfather was!)

Spud_queen, I know what you mean.  I went to a spiritualist church last week and when the medium had given a message, she asked that person if they had anything they would like to ask the spirit.

If she had come to me with a message, I would have asked where and when my great great grandfather was born 'cos I'll be bu****ed if I can find him!!

Apart from that, I think I do believe, I have seen too many people be given messages and information that no-one else coul guess or get right without actually knowing.  And I mean people who I know, not a 'plant' in the audience/congregation.

I had an odd experience a 4 years ago, i was with an ex at the time and his mums friend came around who is a psychic. We sat in the garden and she got these cards out called angel cards, i picked one and it was motherhood, she said it might not be that i fall pregnant but that my relationship with my mum will improve, well both happened! I had to have an abortion in the end, sorry if anyone disagrees with it, but i was 18 had very little money and my BF wasn't up for it either. My relationship with my mum has improved loads but thats probably because i have grown up a bit since then too. She did mention my Nan being about and said a few things only i knew so yea i believe in life after death, but i think some people who call themself psychics or mediums are just out there to get your money, i would never pay to see one..........
