Unhappy with sutures

I had a minor procedure yesterday involving a 2.5" cut. When I changed the dressing this morning I was horrified to find the roughest looking suturing I have ever seen. The edges of the skin are not neat but puckered and I think I will end up with a Frankenstein scar. Can anything be done?

Plus, the suture thread itself is not a fine one but is very thick.
I'm not normally vain but this scar is always going to be visible unless I wear a Burkha
Not good - I suggest a quick trip back to the hospital/clinic - they may not be able to do anything immediately, but if you have registered your dissatisfaction it should make it easier to insist on some 'scar reduction' procedures if you need them later on. There are assorted creams and patches available - they may be able to give you some of those to use once the sutures are out.

< personally I think it enhances the bolt through the neck - but what do I know >

Sounds like it needs re-suturing. I would phone the facility that performed the procedure and tell them you are not happy with how they left it.
I would phone the hospital and explain your concerns. I expect you were given a leaflet with contact info on before you left the hospital..
This means that they will be a "bu99er" to take out.
Nothing infuriated me more than poor, untidy careless suturing and i had a rule that whoever inserted the sutures took them out, which meant that they were put in more carefully.

Well, 2 avenues to go down:

1) Go back to the hospital or wherever and tell them that the standard of care was unacceptable and that you wanted the original sutures removing and reinserted.

2) Apply steroid cream e.g Synalar to minimise the scarring.

Oooh, now there's a thought. A neat blanket stitch might look nice lol
Sorry to hear about that Mrs O, what a pain! Let us know how you get on when you go back x

I'm back home, complete with a neatly re-sutured wound.
Result!
Well played that woman.

The mess was done by a registrar, the re-suturing (which scores 10 out of 10) was done by a junior doc. Mind you, the poor lad was terrified. The attitude I adopted was "charm personified with a hint of menace" lol
Glad you got it fixed Mrs O!!

Bet the junior took his time though- aswell ad sh1ttn himself hehe.....

I had to take facial stitches out once from the bridge of a mans nose and i was crapping it they were soo tiny ..... Seems ages ago now xx
so you're heading toward a brighter suture. Well, suture self.
