Beta blockers also used for anxiety, panic attacks and loads of other things.
Hope you get sorted tinkerbell23 and write yourself a mental note, I Must
order repeat prescriptions at least a week before they run out to save myself
the hassle in future!xx
does your local pharmacy (if they know you) offer an emergency service for such instances until your gp writes a prescription. Especially given the warning not to stop abruptly.
Ive never had a repeat before cupid! Lol wasnt sure what to do!
Heres me thinking im organized cos i have two day worth left..and i didnt think i get too much in advance!!
Lol lesson learned.... The local pharmacy dont really know me :0/
Ill call docs back soon! I can do my own BP if needed.
Thanks guys!!! Silly...but i do feel a bit anxious even when i feel them wearing off...so id hate to be without them over the weekend.....cos im just getting things under controll xxx
Strange that as you say they are not to be stopped abruptly that the doctor did not either put it on repeat or ask you to return in time for a reappraisal.
Stopping them abruptly and missing one or two days are quite different in that in the former you do not intend to start them again and in the latter, you have just been careless.
No idea why he wants to see you, unless there is financial reward for taking you BP. OR.....he wnats to run his stethoscope over your .....chest.;-)
I'm wondering if GPs are getting more concerned about being sued over an error that they are are not confident in giving out repeats so freely. I was prescribed propanalol for anxiety about 10 years ago and the dose was up to 3, 3 times a day! I was also given a repeat prescription that lasted for a year before I had to go back and see GP. I never took more than one a day normally (2 on a bad day). Last year I had to move to a new GP in a new area and he'll only let me have 28 at a time. TBH that's OK with me now as I like to know they're there just in case rather than take them.
I once did a survey of someone in our household who was taking propranolol. After taking it the pulse rate was checked every half hour. What surprised me was the very short active life of the drug. Within about 4 hours most of the drug has lost its effectivesness and the pulse resumed climbing.
To miss it for 12 hours would have put the pulse rate as it began. I'd hate to think if you missed it for the whole bank holiday weekend
