Cat allergies

Can you have allergy of one cat but not another?
My SIL is staying and when she got up yesterday morning said the feathers in the duvet were playing havoc with her asthma, until I pointed out that the duvet cost me a tenner in Tesco and there was no way any feathers were in it.
The only thing I can think is the problem is th cat but they have four of their own and she doesn't have problems with them.

I don't always know what has set mine off though it's nowhere near as bad as it was when I was younger. I remember staying with my boyfriend at the time's parents' home one time of many and was in a different room to usual (always had separate rooms there and lots of rooms as it was a big family) and something set me off, no idea what. Ended up having to swap with my ex and stay in his rather grungy bedroom from his teenage days haha. Could have been all sorts of things though, it was a very old former farmhouse.
I'd never be rude enough to refuse to take an antihistimine (without very good reason) or make a fuss and carry my inhaler round in my bag with me! Sounds irresponsible to me not having an inhaler (or trying to get one) or help the symptoms if she is asthmatic, especially with a young child around, what if she had a bad attack?

Well they've just left for a day out in London. Thank f**k. It seems the being ultra silent while the little one is asleep doesn't work both ways and it's fine to play and sing songs outside my bedroom door at 6am. Why you'd want to play on the landing instead of downstairs still puzzles me.
Anyway, she doesn't appear to have had a problem with the asthma since. She woke up with a gammy eye so that'll keep her going on attention seeking for the rest of the day.

me and my husband and little one stayed a week with his sister a couple of weeks ago - I hope to god we weren't this bad! i would never have dreamt of telling her I couldn't sleep, as soon as the baby woke in the morning we whipped him off downstairs so as not to disturb anyone, and all nappies & wipes were bagged & binned appropriately and immediately. Admittedly, the dining table did kind of get taken over with his toys, bottles etc, but I'm sure my SIL was okay about that - or else I'd hope she'd have told me. I'd have a word with your brother - don't make a big deal - just say that you never realised little ones went though no many nappies/wipes until you cleaned them up this morning, or something. And next time she sees fit to even touch your photo frames - take them back off the little one and say, " no darling, these are Aunty..... toys - you have your own things to play with" (and explain it that surely a photo frame not the best thing to give a baby anyway!)...... how old is the little one out of interest? don't get the keeping quiet when she's sleeping thing - we had a barbecue/party at my SIL's house, and wee man went to bed in the middle of it and slept more soundly than he had any other night. She sounds like a nightmare- speak with your bro! xx
There's no point speaking to him, he's just her lacky. In her eyes she and the daughter are the be all and end all and everyone must work around them and she actively encourages the daughter to smack people to get what she wants. The child is turning into quite an unpleasant one to be around which is a horrible thing to think, as her auntie. The funny thing is that the daughter (2 in August) has this wave sound playing while she's asleep. That thing is so bloody noisy a bomb could drop and it would drown the sound out. It's my own fault really, I knew what she is like. I should have told the, they'd have to stay at my dads. I'd just hoped that knowing I've moved into my knew house that I'm extremely proud of she might have had a little more consideration.
I could real off a whole longer list of things that she's done to send me potty but I feel it's probably getting a little boring hearing me while about her now. It's bloody handy to vent though.

It's great when we can get pleasure from other peoples misery isn't it! LOL.
Well, I was back at work yesterday so they had free reign of the house all day. I got home and as a walked through the front door was about fraction away from putting my foot down on another *** nappy that had been left there. I waded through the junk in the lounge to take the shopping through to the kitchen which of course looked like a bomb had hit it. All the stuff they'd used to make breakfast (which appeared to be the entire contents of the kitchen) was piled up in the washing bowl and well, everywhere. So I got to making dinner for them when SIL decided to inform me she needed to go and visit the tenants of a house she owns in Banbury so I'd be babysitting. Of course I don't mind watching the little one but it would have been nice if she had asked first, rather than just telling me. So I made dinner and started to clean up after, including all the mess they'd created through the day while she just lazed around on the sofa. Didn't occur to her to ask if she could do anything. And whilst I'm happy to anyone to eat or drink anything I have in my house, if you don't want a full glass of juice or lemonade, don't pour a full glass! I've lost count of the amount of half full drinks I've ended up throwing away.
This morning was fun too. I have my dresser and all my hair stuff in the spare room where they were sleeping. As I was getting up she got my brother out of bed to watch the little one and she went back to bed meaning I couldn't get in there and get ready for work. It's not as if she didn't know what time I needed to get in there. She could have at least offered for me to get the stuff I needed before she went back to bed. But when the time came I sorted that out by having the noisiest shower I could. The good news is as I left for work they were starting to get all their stuff together and when I get home tonight, they won't be there. Phew! I'm interested to see what sort of state they leave the place in.
Well, I sound like a barrel of fun as a host don't I. Lol.
That's all my venting done for now. (unless they don't bother clearing up after themselves before they leave). I'll have to think of something else to moan about now. :)
