It depends on the type of chemo. I had it weekly (three weeks on, one week off) for 5 months and started to feel it half way through. However I was on a very harsh type of chemo. It varies from person to person.
There are many types of Chemo - he should have been given literature for his specific one. General side effects are indeed tiredness, changes in appetite and skin, hair loss or thinning with some. It very much depends as said on the type and the dose and the patient.
Not sure what chemo brother is on, as he has been on remission for the last yr. he sounds quite jolly, unlike a brother who had chemo last year and couldnt take the second dose of it.
many thanks for all your replies Abers. Just sitting here thinking about what he told me this morning, but didnt mention what chemo it was.
he sounds ok at the moment and loves his game of outdoor bowls, so I must stop looking on the dark side and look to his future recovery!
Good luck whoever is going through Radiotherapy, or chemo xx
Thanks so much replying and your good wishes.
These things do chew away at you during the day while thinking of what the future holds for him. Bless ya all x
Cheers ttfn. He came across as fine this morning, but he always does.
He is only worried about not being able to play bowls, and takes it in his stride about having myloma. He is doing a fine job of putting our minds at rest, so you can only carry on the conversation with him and moan and groan about anything but his illness x lol
I started playing bowls back in the 60's on a family holiday - great game. Beginners luck, but I beat my uncles who took it in turn to win the club championship ;)
My brother has a positive attitude but we know he is obviously worried deep down. The funeral of my sister on Monday, brought us all together and we did have a right ole chuckle now and again. So this last week has been a downer but I'm feeling lots better, especially after a lovely day out in London y/day.Got to keep our chins up havent we x
