Help... Prickly Heat?

Whilst I do not like to complain about the warmth we have been receiving lately I am slightly miserable. I popped into Boots earlier in the week to show them a patch of itchy/sore inflamed skin that had appeared on my chest and was told it was prickly heat (not something I usually suffer with). I bought some camomile as suggested and went on my way. It has since got much worse and is now covering my entire chest and itches no end. Any suggestions to cool it down and stop the continuous itching....

TIA

Been trying cold compress but doesn't seem to ease it any.
have you tried an anti-histamine?
perhaps calamine lotion? or e45 HC
You could try Eurax.

Thanks Bednobs - yes been taking antihistamine since spring as I suffer with hay fever also. Calamine lotion doesn't seem to be helping =(
Have you tried taking an antihistamine tablet? That might help.
Savlon.................I'm prone to heat/sweat rashes and swear by it.
perhaps the steroid cream might help the (e45 HC or hydrocortisone cream)
Cold natural yoghurt - smeared on and left - helps cool it down and takes the itch out - its all I used in Egypt works wonders
Anti-histamine tablets and anti-histamine cream. I get that when I`m on holiday and it doesn`t really go until I get back to a cold climate. It`s worse in the mornings when I have had bed clothes around my neck and I`ve got hot in the night. Scratching it makes it worse though and it stings as well as itches. Try to keep your upper half uncovered at night as well as using the tablets/cream
oral antihistamine plus eurax or eumovate if you want the version with steroid. bathe in cool water, no soap or shampoo and pat dry. if that doesn't improve it over 24 hours, pop to doc.

Thanks guys - we shall see how it goes. I have had it all week but only mild and today after being outside in the sun it has gone crazy.
Sun?????????????????? today?????????????????
Cool shower, wear cotton rather than man made materials. Use medication that has already been suggested. Don't scratch as the more you scratch, the more you itch.
Drinking soda water & lime i was once told....!!

Talc your skin too , dry it up a little xx

Probably not relevant, but when I was 16 I was diagnosed with severe prickly heat.No treatment worked and in end was diagnosd with PLE - Polymorphic Light Eruption.
Try some lavender oil on the itch - I use it a lot for itching - couldn't have got daughter through chicken pox without it.
