I had my first lot done in a beauty salon and after that it was a tattoist who did it. I would go back to the tattooist if I was getting it done again.
Had mine done in a jewellers many moons ago but I would say go to a tattoo studio. They are trained in piercing and must abide by health and safety laws, unlike the Clairs in our town which is filthy.
I used to think ear piercing was a loud whistle
absolutely definitely do not go to claires or any other chain store that offer 'professional ear piercing!' You see, places like Claires use a piercing gun, the type similarly used to pierce cattle, they are not designed, nor or they suitable to be used to pierce humans. There are three main problems with using piercing guns, the first, because they have plastic components they can not be successfully autoclaved (cleaned) to the extent they should be, which is vital if you want to avoid a high risk of infection. Two, the short stubby point used to pierce the skin is rather blunt, resulting in a higher chance of trauma to the area, meaning probable delayed healing and possible complication, and three, your daughter isn't cattle. If you want your daughter to get the best possible piercing then i highly recommend you take her to a reputable professional piercing studio, and i stress, reputable, body piercing isn't a joke, it's breaking skin, therefore opening your body up to the chance of allowing bacteria and other nasty stuff entering in, you wouldn't take your daughter to a dentist in a stall in your local shopping centre would you? to give her the best possible chance of getting a great piercing, go to a proper piercing studio, and remember, a good piercing aint cheap, and a cheap piercing aint good, hope this helps...
