When I had mine Sammy, teenage son brought his new girlfriend to visit. He said afterwards it was embarrassing to pass all the lockers with Lucozade etc and end up at the one that had 12 bottles of Guinness on it.
Go for it...I did.x

Difficult for anyone to answer as we are all so different. Mine was twenty five years ago and I was fit as a fiddle in three or four weeks. Have you had your 6 week check up?

due to have it next week, I just feel so washed out.
I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago. I was lucky not to be cut so didnt have that to contend with, but I felt very weak for about 3 months. When I went back to work I was on reduced hours for 6 weeks and gradually built the hours up each week till I was on full time again. When I first started walking the dogs again I couldnt believe how tired I was and how I couldnt walk half as far with them. I was always asleep every afternoon. I must say that it was mainly tiredness with myself. I didnt have any complications and am so pleased I went ahead with the op, best thing I ever did!! Just rest and you will soon feel ok again, you must give yourself time to recover as it is a major op.

thats what I have been told, lost a lot of blood with the operation and am taking iron meds.
I was back at work within the 6 weeks
The loss of blood may be why you feel so bad. Takes time to get over that I believe.
As I said we are all different. A good chat with a sympathetic doctor who understands that and doesn`t expect you to be "the norm" but will listen seems a good idea.

ta muchy for your kind answers.
Liver and codliver oil are good for building your blood, Sammy -don't overcook the liver. I used to have anaemia when I was younger......
It takes a good three months .We're not all the same .Our bodies all react differently .I had a vacuum extraction .
I had three months off work but felt fine after six weeks and could in theory have gone back to work but had a job that was physically demanding and on my feet all day .
Just rest up ,take it easy.
Hope you soon feel better ...you'll look back later and it'll be the best days work you ever did :)
Take care and let us know how you are. x

i'm veggie DT. shaney I already feel its the best work I ever did, despite feeling rotton. I will gness perhaps a pint of your avarter would help lol
veggie or vegan - former should be ok for the cod liver oil......failing that morel mushrooms, lemon grass, potatoes, parsley, jute, horseradish leafy tips, winged bean leaves, chrysanthemum, and spinach - should be able to codge something out of that which boosts the old blood count.
It won't do you any harm Sammy ..Guinness is Good for You ...with a drop of Babycham ..half and half :)
Gness after 5 pints of Guinness in her is a risk........

lol gness your a girl after my own heart.
;-) Slainte!
Give it time Sammy everyone has their level. Eat and sleep and go for walks get some fresh air. Don't carry anything heavy or do any heavy housework. It was eight weeks before I felt anything like, the stitches delayed the progess, and I ended up with a bladder infection. But it was necessary to have the op and I felt better for it.
Hi Sammy i had a hysterectomy 12 weeks ago, i felt exactly the same as you, so so tired and in pain, i started to feel better at about 9 weeks, i began to build my strength back up slowly by walking and doing a little more round the house ( nothing heavy) and things improved, its very frustrating and i remember being at the point when i thought i would never get better!! I returned to work this week on a phased return, did half a day the first day back and it wiped me out!!!! had a nanna nap in the afternoon then felt ok, so just be patient and it will come, hope you feel stronger soon xx
