I forgot how badly I used to suffer cramps. It's horrible at the moment. The only thing that seems to touch it is nurofen plus but I'm having to take about 6 tablets a day at the moment and as I'm on citalopram I don't think I'm supposed to be taking it at all.

Is there anything else as effective that I could use?

Have you had the implant or coil? I never suffered until after I had the implant taken out.

I was on depo injections but stopped having them at xmas so the periods are coming back. I don't want to stop them again as I felt I should give my body a break but I can't handle these cramps, I forgot how bad they got.
I expect you've tried Feminax? I find it quite good although must have a hot water bottle when I can too.
Here we go again...drug interactions.....!!!!

Take Ibuprofen 600mgms for the period pains up to every 6 hours if necessary.
Did you suffer before?

Mine are not bad enough to complain about but bad enough for the boys to say 'don't bother, she's due on'
Question Author
I think Feminax is pretty much the same as Nuro Plus.

I've tried normal ibuprofen Sqad but it just doesn't touch it. The pharmacist told me I wasn't meant to take the Nuro plus.
My PE teacher used to say exercise was good. (Heartless witch)

Hot water bottle and a good dvd to watch whilst curled up on the couch.
I used to suffer dreadfully from period pains and 'flooding'.................when I had tennis elbow for 18 months, and was prescribed Ponstan, an anti-inflammatory, the periods were no problem at all.

Yeah, they're actually not as bad at the moment as they used to be. Me and one my sisters used to suffer horrendously to the point where we could both barely move but we always came on the same time so I feel very sorry for anyone who was in our house at the time. lol
Well nurofen plus IS mainly Ibuprofen........take it for God's sake....I disagree with the chemist.
/Here we go again...drug interactions.....!!!! /

What does that mean?
Oh yes, an ex father-in-law worked for Parke-Davies and he used to give me Ponstan. They really did help.
Question Author
Okey doke, I'll keep taking it. I ignored the pharmacist before so I might as well now. There's definitely more in N/Plus, normal ibup. doesn't give me warm fuzzies ;)
ummmm...it means that drug interaction is, apart from a few exceptions, hysterical in nature.....that's what it means.

Might look up that then Craft, sounds a similar issue.

Funnily enough all the lads seem to be avoiding coming into the office today. :)
Prudie...Ponstan was very popular in the 60's and 70's then dropped out of the scene for some reason....
Sqad...I understand. I'm from the school of 'you need to know how much pain you're in'
Sqad is right - this is the ingredients of Nurofen Plus:
Contains 200mg of ibuprofen and 12.8mg of codeine phosphate

I'm from the school of take a painkiller and stop whinging :)
Aw come on, women dont suffer period pains, its just a ploy so that they can be evil towards any man who breathes to loudly. Its the men who suffer. What do you think of that ladies?
