My answers all assume that it will be done laparoscopically(keyhole)
\\\Have any one had ovary cyst removed : \\
Not me personally.
\\How long should you take off work\\
Depends on what job...if it is not "too" manual and all goes well, then one is looking a a recovery period of 2 weeks.
\\Do it help with fertility problems \\
Almost all ovarian cysts have no effect on fertility and you are just as likely to conceive before operation as after removal.
You may have intercourse as soon as you feel like it .....usually after about 2 weeks.
If there are any complicating factors at operation, then the keyhole approach will be abandoned and the abdomen opened (laparotomy) but this is unusual.

it depends why theyre removing it.
if you have pcos and one has just got a bit big then removing it wont necessarily solve your probs - as another will probably grow, but if its just one off and its big then it will likely change your chances of conceiving - every case is differnet - there is no single answers so you are best asking your doc.

sqad - youre right that a one off cyst in itself shouldnt cause fertility problems but if its caused by PCOS then it will affect her.
my doc said they dont usually remove cysts with pcos unless they have grown large because another will grow - itd be like treating a pimple by cutting it off ... it wont stop you getting another

joko....point well taken, but there is nothing on the OP to suggest that she has CPOS.
But even if she has then:.... Studies of women with PCOS have reported that ovarian drilling results in an 80% ovulation rate and a 50% pregnancy rate, but other studies have shown less success.
So either way.....her fertility will not be affected but her infertility (IF due to PCOS) should be improved.
