Ibuprofen

How often is it ok take 200mg Ibuprofen? I always thought it was every 4 hours but just been told its six hours?
I don't have the box. Thanks.

For what reason are you taking the drug?

200mgms is basically useless.

Depends if the pain has gone....in which case one needn't take the tablets any more.

If the pain is still there after 4 hours, then take another dose, but double it to 400mgms.

Stomach cramps - Really painful.
I'm taking 2x 200mg every 4 hours but they are wearing off after a couple of hours so I can't see how I'm supposed wait six hours until I take the next lot - which is what I was told by my friend.
Its now been 5 hours since I took the last lot (2x200mg) so am I ok to now take more and if so, are you saying I should take 4 tablets?

No, take 400mgms now.......BUT, if this doesn't settle by tonight, I would seek medical help as i know nothing of your past history, pre existing medical conditions or other symptoms.

I would hesitate to use ibuprofen for "stomach cramps."

By stomach cramps do you mean period pain? If it's 'digestive' stomach pain I wouldn't take ibuprofen.

It's fine. It's just a stomach cramp.

I just assumed Ibuprofen would be the best thing, do you think paracetamol would be better, or both? You can take them both together can't you?

Ah!....just noticed that you are female, so I presume that you are taking Ibuprofen for gynaecological reasons and in which case 400mgms every four hours if required should be fine.

You can take 1 200mg tablet every 4 hours or 2 200mg tablets every 6 hours. The crucial thing is to take no more than 6 200mg tablets in more than 24 hours. Also, always make sure you take them with some food, even if it's just a biscuit.
