Should Pip Schofield be sacked?

If it was the other way round and a political figure, especially a PM, had done something as outrageous as Philip Schofield yesterday, live on ITV with a huge audience, there would be a Media witch-hunt against that politician until he finally resigned. Should squeaky Pip now do the decent thing and fall on his sword? I for one would not be sad to see him leave our screens.

As far as im aware all he has done is handed an MP a list of people he suspects to be paedophiles on live TV, not really the way to do it but its hardly a crime just not the way to do it. Maybe through his actions it will twist the arms of the authorities to investigate further and not cover it up. Good job Philip.

Not a crime?, what if a name had been seen by a camera? Isn't that libel ? (ok not a prosecutable crime for the pedantic)

I suspect it was not just Schofield in on this, no doubt the producers were looking for something sensational.

They should all go, it was totally irresponsible.

what's the fuss? It's not as if he named names out loud. He's apologised because apparently one camera angle might have revealed some of them; but he wasn't holding it up to the camera or anything.

He and Cameron are both trying to deal with Twitter and the internet and the way names of innocent and guilty alike sweep round the world unchecked. I don't have any answer to this problem.

If DC didn't read the names The Prime Minister did not look at the card on air, instead placing it on the table in front of him, then how did he know it was a list of 'gay' mp's?

But to the original question - I don't think sacking him would be appropriate, I'm not sure whether we even know if that little stunt was his idea.
