dangers of cartilage ear piercing

i've never gotten it done but i would like to very much. my parents don't want me to get it done and while i know that (if done unproperly) there is some risk in this procedure, i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the topic. thanks a bunch

Hello, are you talking about the top part of your ear? I had mine pierced many years ago on my 15th birthday. I wasn't aware of any dangers because I was young and could only see the 'cool'o side of it. I have never had a problem withmine and in fact I think out of all my ear piercings this one hurt the least. I think if you make sure you go to a place that can be trusted and you keep a close eye on it for the first few weeks it shouldn't be a problem. Hope this helps.

I have had quite a few cartilage piercings.. there is a risk as with every procedure but a good piercer will explain.. I have never had a problem with mine and the risks are rare which are easily elimatinated with a good clean piercer, strict aftercare and most importantly a well placed piercing.. also worth knowing what the risks are and how to look out for them for the relevant piercings so you can keep an eye out for them. I've got my conch, tregus and rook done (look em up for daigramatic purposes) and like I said never a problem...

cartilage piercings are slightly more painful due to the type of tissue (but not very painful) and they have longer healing times but they are very lush and can be easily hidden - especially rook and conch piercings if you are concerned about parents..

i got my cartilage done when i was 12 and it didnt hurt at all !! it feels like a regular ear piercing except that after i felt a little burining sensation more liike heat but only for llike a minute i had no problems at all
