Sore nose...
9 Answers
I busted my nose but it's healing nicely, according to my doc.
I haven't had a huge amount of pain with it, apart from the initial break, but I've woken up this morning and the tip is really, really sore. Just touching it gently is making my eyes water.
The pain is right on the tip, but underneath - right on the bone/cartilage/whatever is it. This is not where the break was, so I'm wondering why it's hurting so much here?
Do you think this is all to do with the break (even though it's in a different place, or could it be something else?
TIA

what is healing "quite nicely?".....if it was "busted" then i presume that you had it manipulated in hospital, but if you didn't have it manipulated then it wasn't "busted."
Let us assume that it was broken....when? and is your nose blocked, in which case it may be a haematoma (blood clot) causing your problem and this will need evacuating, so go back to A&E.
If your nose wasn't broken then this is a nasal tip infection that needs antibiotics.......can't be more specific ....sorry.

It was broken. I went to the hospital and they moved it around a bit with a long pair of, what looked like, pliers. This was done under a local, so I wasn't even put to sleep, which I thought was quite bad because it really really hurt! He then stuck some long cotton wool things up my nose, which I no longer have, and put a plaster across the bridge. When I say plaster, I don't mean like a plaster you would have on a broken arm/leg, I mean like a large plaster you would have for a graze... so pretty pathetic, really. I took the cotton wool thing out myself, because I felt like I couldn't breath properly and it was making me feel panicky. It wasn't a pretty sight when I did, and the blood literally poured out (this was a week ago). It's fine now, but just the end is really hurting. Do you think it's related to the break, or could it be something completely different?
I have an appointment on Friday, but just wondered if I should go and see my doc beforehand?
I saw him last week and he said it didn't look "deformed" (his words, not mine) which is why I used the "healing nicely" term :-)

OK...thanks.....i have got the picture now.
It sounds as though you may well have a septal haematoma as a result of the fracture and there is likelihood of super added infection.
Return now and don't wait until Friday as you will need antibiotics and if there is a septal haematoma, this will need draining.
Good luck.
