Damaged Neck

I have had stiff and painful neck for a while. I went to a local chiro and she did that sudden twist thing on it, and it REALLY hurt for ages. Since then I have had real problems with it. I can hardly move my face from side to side - one is tight and the other is painful. I've seen a massage therapist but it only helps for a day or so. Do you think I need an MRI or are there exercises etc I could try?

I think that you need a diagnosis................probably on the basis of the results of an MRI.

this happened to me abt 3 years ago!! didnt know at the time but I had degeneration between c5 and c7. Still get the urge to write a letter of complaint to that physio for twisting my neck so hard.. he definatly made it worse!!! mediflow water pillows are fantastic to help with neck pain. But as sqad says you need a diagnosis first!!

I went to an oesteopath following excruciating neck and arm pain back in November. As he had no idea what was wrong, he was extremely gentle with me and I was to tell him straight away if what he was doing was hurting. (He was only doing intense massaging)
I paid for an MRI a few weeks later, it showed a herniated disc. Luckily the osteopath was sensible. Sounds like your Chiro was far too keen.

As has been said already, you need a diagnosis. Sooner the better. I wish you well.
