I have heard that you should make sure that that is the very area that you should dry to the max and not leave wet; is this true?

You should not leave any of your crevices damp.As these areas are ideal breeding grounds for bacteria to breed and cause infection. Also fungal infections are a possibility. Always keep clean and dry.
Reading your question reminded me of when i had stitches after having my kids.  I was told by the midwife to dry 'down there' with a hair dryer.  Not very easy as you can imagine as the hair dryers in those days where quite big things almost like ray guns.  I still giggle when i think about it.  But i agree with joe - make sure you dry off properly.

I am thinking specifically of male genitals, but I'm sure the same goes for them.
