That is nonsense.
Always start the day with coffee. Loathe tea.
Millions of people start their day with a cup of coffee before (or without) eating anything. They don't seem to get heartburn!
first thing i do is have a large coffee no ill effects
I get heartburn from too much coffee - it's not the caffeine as other high caffeine drinks don't do the same - if it starts getting bad I have to lay off it for a week or so and switch to tea then I'm OK again.

No, it must be something else.
I always start the day with coffee and it doesn't give me heartburn. It must have been from something else.
Get some Bisodol tablets (Tesco seels them) they are brill. Also, I've just recently discovered Andrews Liver Salts which also relieve it quite nicely.
There might be a difference between 'getting up in the morning and having a cup of coffee' and having a 'bought' cappucino and drinking it on a nervous stomach perhaps.
Congratulations gordie! I had assumed you were agoraphobic given the difficulty you had making the trip to your brother. It is good to see that you can get out and about to the Dr, Hospital, Vet and College.

Coffee does upset some people, do you usually drink coffee?

Hope your kitten is soon back on her feet.
I'd have thought that anything you consume could cause an issue. Thing to do is keep a record and see if you personally are affected that way.
Save some cordial to rehydrate and take meds first thing I have coffee before I have any food in the morning and am fine.

That said, I'm not so keen on the frothy stuff on cappucinos or lots of milk and, especially some machine coffees (like automatic ones) don't like me much. I'm more a filter coffee with normal cold, normally skimmed, milk kinda girl.

I'm say being so nervous about things all the time isn't helping - have you sought any help about that?

Did you get your results back from your gastro scan?
Coffee gives me heartburn whatever time of day I drink it. It could be. Try tea or milk. Not juice because that's acidic and may cause the same problem.
I get heartburn from coffee. My GP told me that coffee/caffeine lowers the oesophageal sphincter hence my heartburn!
If you have milk or cream in your coffee, it could be that, giving you indigestion, you might be, or be becoming, lactose intolerant, (as I am).
Try it black and see it it makes a difference
