I just did some searching till sqad turns up neti. apparently its a well known treatment that makes mucus more liquid and easier for it to drain and be expelled. Apparently it can taste pretty disgusting so you need to drink a lot when you take it and drink it with something strong tasting
I hope you have a spitoon in your house Netibiza
either that or sit by an open window yuck yuck yuck

many thanks but bugger that! and I have to pay full price? Nooooo!
But Neti, it works and the doc thinks it will fix your chest. Aren't you fed up of being ill?
With bronchitis you need to expel the infected mucus, if you don't it will pool in the bottom of your lungs and get worse.
On a drunken night out a group of us were trying to think of a way to write down the noise someone makes when they clear chest mucus and spit it out.
I won (she says modestly) with:

My opinion, whether you want it or not neti, lol, is that you haven't rested enough. An uncle of mine recently had a nasty chest infection he couldn't get rid of and, like you, he's not one for sitting around. His doc told him that apart from anti bio's he really should rest...he did...it's worked.
So, take your medicine, take it easy, and get well soon x

OK OK I'll get it, and many thanks to you all, but rest, with my child coming home again on Thurs????

but I do not have hardly any mucus, nothing when I cough!! but I guess he could hear it!
The nothing when you cough is the problem, it's not shifting off your chest thus the continuing illness.
Back from the Club.

Acetilcisteina is a mucolytic agent......it breaks up mucous....makes it easy to cough up.
netty...I have read your post again and what you are implying.....

....my opinion....the mucolytic agent will not be making much difference to you.......
Question Author
I suppose I should give it a go though, wonder why he didn't put it on prescription?
netty....no idea. It is your call.
do they have prescription rules in Ibiza? Here I can't get sterimar on prescription as its not allowed.
Question Author
Well it's an over the coounter thing cos it's not on my prescription, he's just scribbled a name on a bit of paper and 1 1 1 which is 3x a day. Is it dangerous? Will I become outrageous and spaced out??
netty...nope...not dangerous and has few if any major side effects.
>>>Will I become outrageous and spaced out??

Isn't that your normal state anyway, Netibiza?

;-)
Question Author
Just read about it (Thanks woofy for the uk thing) it sound strange, why isn't it licenced in UK, supposae I had better take it!
Question Author
Ha ha Buenchico, yes that is my normal state, maybe it'll calm me down and get me sitting in rocking chair knitting!!

Thanks sqad, I'll give it a go. First sign of side effects and I'll give up!
