Can anyone explain what causes Endometriosis?

Hi, I am sufferer of Endometriosis and my consultant hasn't been too forthcoming with information... if anyone can tell me why it happens I'd be very grateful.

I dont know what causes it but I do know it can run in families.  My sister has it.  She is now in her 50s with two adult children.  She thanks reflexology for them.  I know it is a very painful condition and I hope you find your way to control it.  Sorry I cant tell you more.

I've got this too and my gynaecologist recommended that I read this book:

Along with the Endometriosis I have also now got IBS which apparently is quite common in Endometriosis sufferers. It's a great book to help with the symptoms I would highly recommend it
