Obviously if it gets worse will go to doctor!! I've got a really niggly cough that feels like I've got something at the back of my throat. Its driving me mad, and I'm coughing so much its making my head ache and keeping me up at night! Im asthmatic, but inhalers aren't helping, and have nbeen taking a cough medicine but that hasn't helped either. Has anybody else experienced this? What can I take / do? Thanks in advance!
It could be hayfever - as an asthmatic you are more prone to things like this, another reason could be that you need your asthma medication changing - its still worth a visit to the doctor as he can give you something that will actually work rather than lots of trial and error. In the meantime, honey and lemon will sooth your throat and might ease the tickle.
If it's bad enough to keep you awake all night I'd say it's time to see the doctor now, instead of watiting till it gets worse. Chances are he/she will be able to prescribe something that will clear it up in no time. You obviously don't want to go and I understand that because I'm the same, but when the time comes that you need advice, you need it from an expert.
The trouble with coughs is that there really is nothing you can do. I am also asthmatic and get very bad chest infections from the constantly ill kids I teach. I got pleurisy a few months ago. If your cough sputum is clear, then it is just a cough. If it is green or yellow then it is an infection, and you could get anti-biotics. Other than that, I recommend Covonia, as the strongest cough medicine I have found, which actually works! Get the original one.
i had a cough like this for weeks and my daughter had it for months. Our doctor told us that the best thing to do was suck on a mint and sips of cold water. It did relieve the symptoms a bit - hope that helps!
You sound as if you have the same viral infection that I have had for the last 3 weeks. It is the third time I've had it this year and it takes ages to clear. You may also have symptoms of aching muscles, lack of energy and a raised temperature. I find honey and lemon best for the cough and paracetamol may help your head and reduce any raised temperature. I work as a first aider in a large comprehensive and dozens of the students have gone down with it this year. It is probably why I have been hit 3 times although it must be quite potent because it's the only thing I've caught in seven years of working there.Phew I think I need another lie down after typing this.
