Does anyone else chew their tongue while falling asleep? Its not a conscious effort on my part. I don't do it so it bleeds. It started 4 or 5 years ago, I'm not on any medication that can cause this but I have noticed that if I take tramadol I do it a lot harder. I can make my tongue sore and it sort of disturbs the falling asleep process.

It's not causing me any great distress, I'm just curious if there are any others that do it.

I don't chew my tongue but I do grind my teeth to the point that I wake up with headaches and jaw ache! My dentist made me a mouth guard thing that I wear at night. It covers my top layer of teeth so grinding is impossible. Your dentist may suggest something similar?
