However, you can turn the tables a bit, without altering your own personality. When the boys make an effort at humour then you can show appreciation of the effort they are putting in, even if you don't find the humour particularly funny. Don't overdo it, laughing out loud when you didn't actually find it funny is a fraud, but why not try to smile or say "you're funny" or "tell me a joke"
Also it is posible to direct the humour towards things that you do find funny i.e. "hey, do you like . I think that's he/she/it's really funny".

Never hurts to move out of your 'comfort zone' and thus become proficient at things that are presently difficult for you. So best of luck learning better social skills, they'll need practice.
That said your question comes across as very black and white. Be serious. Be not serious. As others suggest your priority would be to find someone who likes a serious friend. Lower priority would be to enhance your skill set. And you can be serious when needed and relax at other times if you want to.

If serious about not being serious, look up how to 'fake it until you make it'. Getting over a hurdle of, "that's not me, I'm not liking it", is half the battle, and playing a role can help. That said if you have given it a good try and continue to feel uncomfortable and fake, then know when to accept what isn't changing. But I stress again the preference to look for a boy who already lkikes you.
Thanks. I dont think im a serious person, suppose I'm serious about meeting someone though. I'm not getting any younger and the guys I do like are obviously not serious enough... I know this. So at the end of the day, Im serious because that's what I want, they are not serious because that's what they want. I'm fed up with meeting un-serious men. :( Humffff, in a downer today. x
