Yesterday after work I went to M&S and for only the second time in my life used a shop's bra fitting service. I found that the size I had self assessed for myself was wrong. After measuring the girl brought a selection of bras to me to test out her calculation which was correct. Now I am comfortable and new bra also looks good being a perfect fit. Highly recommend anyone who has never been, or not lately, to give it a go.
I had a similar experience to Caran. Apparently, she could only measure me with my existing bra on. How the **** is that going to work? Strangely the size came back as the same as my existing bra. Doh.
I was last measured in Contessa, about 4 years ago, bra removed, new measurements quite different to mine but when she brought me the bras to try they were a perfect fit, so comfortable.
Unfortunately, with bad arthritis and being hypermobile I have to put my bra on the old lady way.......fasten it up back to front, swizzle it round, then drop into the cups , then put my arms in and pull the straps up. A right palaver, Lol
That video is way out for me and possibly most women. I can no longer reach round to my back and what I'd give to be so petite in the booby department.
Since I first developed, they have been a source of discomfort to me.Far too big and now droopy too. Its no laughing matter.
If I were younger and knew about breast reduction i'd be first in the queue.
Bit ridiculous having a fitting service and the fitter not allowed to touch you!!
I've had a couple of fittings over the years in M&S and BHS. I tried to get a fitting in M&S last week but you have to book an appointment so I bought some bras without a fitting and they were too big. Took them back on Monday and got a smaller cup size.
Caran, I was in M&S (Hammersmith) on Monday and the girl used her tape measure so was touching me, so dont know why you were told no touching. Although it was over my bra she came up with perfect size and has left me really pleased and much more comfortable. As woofgang says it seems to depend on the shop and the fitter.
On the wall it said to make an appointment, but the girl was available and only kept me waiting for 5 minutes as she finished session with someone else.
I have a great bra fit and am measured in a small independant lingerie shop where craziness hasn't crept in yet and they'll measure you with your bra off. However technically I came in at one size and the lady in the shop told me for comfort I can go up to the next back size without losing any stability, so technically I'm a 36DD but I actually wear a 38 DD now.
I see that most of you are used to getting measured. Now I have found how much better a properly fitting bra feels and looks will go again when I feel I have grown or shrunk a bit. Thank you for all the interesting stories of what you do.
I decided to get measured (years ago) at M&S. I tried on a bra that conformed with the measurements that they gave me. I thought I was being strangled. They were completely wrong You probably know Woolworths in SA (as I have seen that you go there). I was measured there and it turns out that I was wearing the correct size all along so I bought my usual t-shirt bras there (2 for 120R) I was out with a friend tonight and she got measured at Rigby and Peller. She bought their bra and it was £86. I think I`ll stick to Woolies
Very impressed with your memory. I do go to Johannesburg on business trips but do not venture outside the guarded complex of hotels and casinos at Emperors Palace.
Daisy Nonna I was willing to book at m&s but there was no need.
