i very stupidly got a 1"x1" tattoo on back of my neck behind the ear about 7 years ago, since then i have tried laser 4 times, plus i have had a tatooist inject a compound into it to try get it off. the laser has now left me with a 4" square white scar which has been there years now and is a sight, the skin colour will not grow back , ever !! im now left with a scaring plus the original tattoo is still there a little. i was at a tattooist yesterday and he suggested getting another more tastefull tattoo over it..i dont know, i am 46 years old, i fear i will regret it ...what do people think of tattoos on neck wether tastefull or not, do not want to look any more like a thug or a chav than what i allready look lol

Ah I see you have made a decision already then.
Best of luck with it.
strange in a way that many seem against, yet i see so many people, young and old with them.
I sometimes drink a pint of lager which will last me all night. A lot cheaper than buying 2 halves and saves time in the Q
I dont think thats deegrading at all. I dont smoke and never have done. IMO thats awful as well especially women smokers. They doll themselves up and can look really beautiful, then they pull out a fag and light up which spoils the image. And that comes also from my OHs opinion on women smokers
I don't think anything particularly, some it suits and some it doesn't.
Women smokers? Some can carry it off with class. Standing outside the office in the rain, having a quick drag is not a good look for anyone. Producing a long cigarette holder, and smoking a cocktail cigarette is quite another; very 1930s ! Mind , you have to have pale make-up, thin lips, and pencilled eyebrows, to complete the image!
Tattooes should be in places that can't be seen when whoever has them is clothed.
Indulge me for a reminiscence:

In the 50's and 60's Merchant navy seamen on the Far Eastern route to London docks would anchor in Port Said, get drunk, tattooed and pop into the brothel and get VD ( now STD). Then by the time they got to London Docks, all the outward signs of VD would be apparent and they would present themselves at the nearest hospital which would be the VD clinic at the London Hospital Whitechapel.

The Consultant always taught us to investigate for VD any man with a tattoo based on the experience above.

To this day, this connection between tattoo and "respectability" remains vivid in my mind.
Some tattoos these days are like works of art, but I can't understand why anyone would want one permanently on their body. What if you see another design you prefer a few years later?
Also what's the point in having writing in a language you don't read or speak tattooed on?
Nothing wrong with tattoos, imo....as long as they are decent ones! Think very carefully before having any-i have always designed my own and thought about them for at least six months before inking. To all the judgemental so and so's on here....I have 11, my IQ is 168 and I hold down 2 professional jobs. Not everybody has tramp stamps and no brains!
personally I think being left with the white scar is better than having a tattoo put over it.
I don't like tattoos ,think there is something rather seedy about them . But hey my father,s mum evidently had them so who am I to talk !
Phew lcg..... That's made me feel better. That's exactly what My Daughter does, she has the same amount as you and the art work is stunning (I personally would rather she didn't have them, but it's her body)
My mum hates tattoos but she has alway said she wants the Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse on her bottom.
I have 2 - one on my forearm with 2 hearts together with names and another one on my upper arm as a memorial. 1st one was done in the 90s and was done as a statement of my love for my late wife and then after she died I had a memorial cross and rose with her name on banners as a permanent reminder (as if I would need one). Both are covered if I wear long sleeves.
I like tattoos on both men and women as long as they are professionally done and can be hidden under clothes. I don't like face, hand, feet or neck tattoos on anyone.
My young nephew has a habit of collecting them, I've lost count now. To me it would seem to be a faux attention seeking thing borne out of boredom - he has a dayglo green mohican as well. I can't think whether he wants to appear 'individual' or fit in with a certain group/steretype but to me he is a jobless buffoon with too much time on his hands. Still love him though.
OH has his ex-wife's name tatooed on his arm. What a plonker!
I have seen some fantastic pieces of artistry as Tattoo's but not for me thank you. Love the term 'Chav tag' sums them up in my eyes.
A load of pricks!
