My friends wife was wrongly diagnosed with an ear infection in 2011 I don't know what antibiotic ear drops was she was given but she took 2 doses as prescribed and the next day she had a hoarse voice. Went to another doctor who said stop taking drops as there was not an infection so she left them off.
Since then her never came back and no doctor can diagnose why or what is wrong. She is still convinced the drops caused the problem and is so frustrated because she finds it difficult to talk. Is she right that the drops did this?
More likely whatever caused the ear pain also affected her throat. Don't know why it would have gone on this long. Have the doctors suggested anything at all? No pain?
Cheers for your replies. No pain apparently and ent wanted her to have the tube camera up nose and throat but too scared to have it done she told my mate.
Forgot the other part, well this is second hand! She has phlegm over production in her lungs whic they don't know what it is and told my mate that she feels its in the throat to. Just trying to find more out as they don't have computer. Ta squad will google it later, have to be off for now. Cheers.
ferryman......ah!...your post of 18.31 if accurate, has put a different slant on the case......so.......kick my "functional dysphonia" diagnosis into touch.
ferryman...you are not missing anything.
Functional dysphonia is a psychosomatic disorder, a sort of " in the mind" diagnosis, but that has been blown out of the water by your recent post concerning " phlegm."
Now, we need to know if she uses inhalers or if she has lung problems such as bronchitis.
Whatever......she needs to have an ENT surgeon look down her throat and this can be done without a camera investigation, although the latter is desirable.
Righto Sqad I see what you mean. She did say she can't have inhalers because of her other health problems, heart ettc and she does not have bronchitis and I know she don't smoke because she always moans about smokers. She will ask about other method of looking down the throat so can you explain so I can tell her. What I do for friends! Cheers again.
