I have bought tubular support bandages for my dodgey knees. Could anyone please tell me if I should leave these on overnight or should I remove them. Thank you.
leah, speaking as someone who has a dodgy knee and also as a retired Occupational Therapist, I can tell you that support bandages do naff all for dodgy knees unless they are worn tight enough to be uncomfortable. you are better seeing a physio and getting a proper assessment and exercises to strengthen your own muscles.
If it's that Tubigrip stuff you've got that will do zilch to support a dodgy knee anyway.
A proper sports support is better.Depends what's wrong with your knees .If it's muscular then physio will be more help as Woofy says.
In my case it's bones and loose cartilage grinding and crunching so a strong sports support helps from time to time .
Thank you all so much. There is no information on the packet about this. I bought bandages in the hope that they would stop my knees giving way when I stand up. Looks like I have wasted my money yet again.
Have a look at these: http://www.tommiecopper.com/content/knee-compression-sleeve They are not supposed to be tight but they have copper in the material which can help some with pain. My knees have really been helped by buying these and I need a knee replacement!
Sorry for the late reply, I have been away for a few days.
My knees are very painful at rest except when I have them raised. On standing one of them gives way and I have to steady myself before I can walk .
