My husband had a vasectomy, at his GP surgery, a few years ago. He did this on the grounds of me suffering horrendous post natal depression and the fact I nearly died during child birth.
He has now sprung it on me that he'd like another child.
I have mixed feelings about this but can see/understand his reasons for wanting another child.
How does this work, with regards to getting a reversal done? Can this be done via his GP surgery, or would it need to be private?
Are they, on the whole, successful?
Do you know if it's fairly simple, and the same as when he had it done in the first place? What I mean is, do you know if it could be done at a GP surgery, or does it involve a hospital?
Its much more complicated reversing a Vasectomy. If I can give an analogy its like cutting a rubber tube in two and sealing the ends then trying to undo the seal and stitch the two ends back. The first bit quick and easy, the second harder, much longer and not always successful.

No, reversal isn't simple, cannot be done in the GP surgery and has to be done by an experienced Urologist as it involves microscopic surgery.
Thanks Kristal and Sqad.
He only had it done a few years ago, so he's thinking that will go in his favour.
It doesn't really matter if he has to go private, he's determined he wants it done now, but he seems to think it will be a case of going back to his GP surgery and having it done there, as opposed to having to go to a hospital.
Well I wouldn't call it love but you are right, I don't understand it at all. Were this bloke messing with me, he would have no need to worry about vasectomy reversal.
