My OH had scrambled eggs for the first time whilst at a hotel at the weekend. I usually poach them for him. He loved them and started asking how to do them. This is how the conversation went ;-
Me - You just whisk them up and cook them
Him- But do you boil or fry them first ?
Me- (after picking myself up of the floor laughing) Neither, They are raw.
Him- Raw ? You mean Im eating raw eggs ?
Me - No, you crack a raw egg into a pan and cook it gently
Him - Then do you drain the water off ?
Me - (PMSL) What water ?
Him - The water that you cook them in !!
Me - You dont cook them in water. Its just eggs in a pan or dish in the microwave cos they can burn the pan which is why I dont them them
Now come on all you fellas (or women) out there, how many of you can scramble eggs
My mother taught me to scramble eggs when I was small. Also did it at school when I was 11.
I do much of my own cooking as Mrs Dyed and I work different hours and eat at different times.
I'd take a stab at cooking them, but as I don't like them I've never cooked them, so no, I don't really know how to cook scrambled eggs.
I do a mean omelette though!
I've been complimented on my scrambled eggs - the secret is to stop applying the heat in time and let the residual heat complete the task. Then serve and eat immediately.
If you keep an eye in it you don't let it stick too much and put the pot in soak straight away.
I can't get the hang of making it in a microwave - there seems to be about 3 seconds between liquid and rubber.
butter in the pan add lightly beaten eggs and cook until thick and creamy. Take off heat and add a dash of cream to stop them overcooking and serve on toast with lots of ketchup
Its a basic skill isnt it?? I only cook mine for 60 seconds with a dash of whole milk. Dont like it too solid. Then wash the pan straight away!!
Finish with some black pepper. I have added a small knob of butter but can go runny when put on the plate.
