Am I getting bigger or are clothes sizes getting smaller, I am size 14 and haven't put on weight but most of this size are too small. Today I bought a size 14 dress from Dorothy Perkins actually looked big in the shop tried it on at home and had to struggle to get into it asked a size 12 friend to try and just about fitted her noticed this sizing with a quite a lot of stores, anybody have the same problem.

I feel that the Chinese really struggle to figure the dimensions of western women. Clothing sizes and the cut of clothes to allow ease of movement really are bad in many chains.

They've been making clothes sizes smaller than they should be for years. Try H&M, they'll give you a fright.
I'm size fourteen and recently I have bought a pair of jeans, size 12 and an LA gear polo shirt which is size 20 and a blouse size 14. Crazy.
You can't just pick something in your size and assume it's going to fit these days! Everything has to be tried on. I've got clothes in my wardrobe ranging from a 16 to a 24 and they all fit me and I'm a size 20! (At least I think I am!)
I can wear a size 10 or 12 or 14. I have given up looking at the label...I just hold the garment up and judge that way....I even have a size 16 dress. I didn't know the size til I got it home...it fitted in the shop.

Sizes are a nonsense these days.

TKmax clothes always have to be tried on for fitting. I have bought size 10s and XL and still fitted. Agree with kathyan will just try and see how it fits.
I will admit to cutting the size label out of the LA Gear polo shirt. It upset me every time I wore it.

They are certainly different in every shop, but i know i can order my size online and it will fit. I might go up a size for a coat, but anything size 8 clothes or size 5 shoes, i can guarantee will fit.
My size XS and I tend to notice that all the clothes of this size is kinda loose on me so I have to disagree with that
What are you disagreeing with, cherry?
The cheaper stuff has always been small as they try to get away with as little fabric as possible. I heard a while back that clothes were getting bigger because people were getting bigger but they don't want to go up a size so will favour the shops with the larger clothes. I'm not sure about stuff in the shops but I know the stuff in my wardrobe has been getting smaller somehow.
I think the main problem is that nothing is made in the UK now and a lot of clothing is just made on the cheap.
It is difficult to pick a size these days as they differ so much between brands. I hate to say that sizes have definitely got bigger not smaller over the years in my view. When I was young a size 10 was a 32 inch bust and 22 inch waist, it's certainly not that small now.
Well, this was one of the hassles by shopping clothing online. Not just you but there are many people who experienced the size of clothing problem that they ordered. The online retailers have solved this problem by developing virtual trail room for the online shoppers and it enables the consumers to check their size as well as to trail the clothing before they order. This great feature has helped to the consumers in getting the their desired and apt clothing while shopping online.
