As the father provides half the genetic information, and the mother the other half, then statistically two people with the same father will each have 25% of the same genetic information (from the father). If they also have the same mother then they will have 25% of the same genetic information from the mother. The total shared DNA is therefore 50% between non identical siblings which would suggest they may look like one another - which they usually do.

Depends on your definition of similar.

The Human Genome is a strand of DNA made up of about 3 billion bases (each base being 1 of the 4 nucleotides; A, C, G or T) forming a sequence which we are able to map. All humans share 99.8% of the same sequence of bases i.e. only 1 in every 500 (or so) nucleotides being different between individuals.
