Dehydrated

Not sure what is going on here, but no matter what I drink this morning I am still dehydrated! My usual choice tea, which I love is having no effect, nor is water. One I have glass, I need another.
Not due to hangover ( teetotal ) and I have had any change in my meds. Any ideas why I can't rehydrate ? !

When you say dehydrated, do you just mean thirsty? Perhaps you have eaten salty food over the holiday, or just need water to keep your digestive system going. Are you weeing more, to compensate for the liquid going in?

Are you diabetic? Extra salty or sugary food over Christmas?

How do you know that you are dehydrated?
Are you passing urine normally and if so what colour is it.

Hi guys, thanks for your answers. No salty food, my appetite has been sluggish.
I think I'm dehydrated, continual thirst, dry mouth, and my veins are low today.
I don't think I am diabetic ? Not been tested.
Weeing just fine...gallons !!

Hi sqad...it has happened to me before and I am taken in and on a drip. No-one has told me why though .

If you are worried, get up to your local MIU for advice.

If it's happened before, ring your GP and ask what the cause was.

What meds are you taking?

Sqad, Mexotrate Prednisolone Fluxotine, Amytriptyline , and a few more that are less nasty. Had to take some pain killers on Christmas day. Could this be a side effect from that ?

Nope......nothing in that lot cries out for the cause.

No big deal.......pop into your GP on Monday and he will do some tests.

Sqad, you're optimistic (sorry, flump) - very few GPs offer drop-in services these days, flump will need to ring today for an appointment next week.... (which is why I suggested MIU or walk-in centre, they might do it on the spot).

boxy......I have no idea what an MIU is and really am not interested.
Walk in centres if staffed by a doctor AND if he knows what he is doing! then that might....just might.....be an option.
Although, I would put my money on the GP even if it meant waiting.
