I seem to have lost mine, I can honestly say I could just sit on here all day and not even bother to do anything. Is it the time of year (ie following Christmas) or am I just getting lazy? Any ideas how to get it back?

During December there is a big build up to Xmas and the New Year with buying presents, putting up decorations, buying food and preparing for the holiday period.
Then when it all finishes, and the decorations have been put away, we all feel a bit flat.
So the thing is to have a few days getting over it all.
Then try to look forward and plan what you want to do this year.
What thing do you want to achieve this year.
Think about what do you want to do to your house, where do you want to go on holiday, what new skills do you want to learn, what new things do you want to get involved in this year and so on.
Plenty of local colleges start short evening classes at this time of year so think about signing up for one of those. It will get you out the house, meet new people, and gain a new skill.
Go to your local library and look at their noticeboard which will show all the local clubs and societies. There is bound to be some group that meet up on regular basis that you have an interest in - such as gardening, walking, chess, bridge, reading, steam trains or whatever.
So don't sit at home, get out a DO something with this year.

I do not know the answer to that, but unless you get off the AB and do something else, then you will develop true depression.
VHG has given you some good ideas and have you tried swimming..............
Don't let "this time of the year" develop into an excuse for laziness.

It's the worst time of year - all the stimulation/fun/pain (delete as applicable) of Christmas has gone, the days are short and dreary and it's a long time until March 30th ... the best day of 2014 - when the clocks change and the evenings are light at last.
But sometimes life needs to be kicked soundly in the arse and told to 'just get on with it' - even getting outside in what passes for daylight at this time of year for a few hours helps lift the mood I find.

Maybe it's time to go for a run, or a bike ride. Wrap up and go for a wander.
You can always take AB with you:

I'm getting over the tail end of that nasty bloody cold going round and could sleep all day at the moment, I get out of bed to come and sit in the living room so that I don't; and then all I do is rotate between reading kindle, watching stuff and coming on here and frankly I'm bored and feeling sorry for myself, and actually want to get back to work and a bit of a routine. Am aiming for thursday - quack said a few more days rest, that's a Thursday deadline as far as I'm concerned.
So I have the motivation but I felt like a bloody hero after doing a 15 minute walk back from quacks yesterday... and then I was tired out and had to go back to bed.
No help to your question but fancied a whinge ;o)

Thanks for all your good ideas and helping me to see I am not the only one. I got myself up, went for a walk, looked round the sales and then popped to see my mum so not too bad. I agree about being retired though, if you don't have to be anywhere you don't bother. I would love to go swimming but I can't swim, have tried to learn but just couldn't, plus I have trouble with my ears so that doesn't help.
