I don't eat any fruit, I'm not keen on it (my diet is horrendous). The kids have veg, fruit juice and a piece of fruit for school every day but it is so hard to 'provide' five pieces a day.
I eat loads of fruit. Usually blueberries or grapes with my cereal, always a banana mid morning, an apple or a couple of satsumas around lunch and sometimes fruit again mid evening.
I would buy the fruit first, the veg next and if the world froze over or the money ran out I would not worry about the rest of the weekly shop.
I neither eat or but fruit. I love tomatoes though. I know they are classed as fruit but I class them as a veg. A bit like rhubarb they are classed as a veg but IMO they are a fruit.
I could live entirely on fruit. I have raisins and fresh chopped apricots (when on offer!) on my porridge for breakfast, munch several apples through the day, an orange or clementine in the evening, sometimes a banana with jelly or custard for a sweet after dinner and when cherries, peaches, nectarines and Victoria plums are in season - wow there is no stopping me, I'm hooked!
The trouble is - fruit is getting so expensive now especially apples which used to be really cheap a few years ago. I scour the supermarkets' reduced shelves for out of date pineapples, melons etc which last for weeks after their sell-by dates. I have a melon waiting to ripen bought in November, it's just about ready.
Ann. I struggle with melons that is why I don't buy them. I like ripe juicy ones but they are always hard. How do you know when they are ripe and juicy?
i always buy loads of fruit, veg and salad stuff. preferably in season. OH always worries about the meat we need (so he thinks). he also buys bananas (which i think are poison and make sure he eats them in a different room to me). we also grow a lot of fruit and veg so it is really fresh - correction i grow a lot of . . . . . . . . .
Can't eat a lot of fruit .I love fruit and used to eat loads of it but fruit doesn't love me these days:(
I suffer from IBS .
I don't eat 5 a day (wish I could ) although I do eat a small banana most days and drink a small carton of mixed fruit juice.
I pigged out on those lovely sweet clementines over Christmas and suffered for it ...lol.
I think the 5 a day mantra is just a marketing ploy to limit the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables that supermarkets throw away, remember doctors are still spouting that the low fat high carb diets are the ones to follow yet most low fat foods contain massive amounts of sugar which isnt good for us.
I love fruit though I have to stop myself eating loads of it when I got told off by the hospital dietician. I have melon and pineapple for breakfast, snacking on clementines at the moment and mixed fruit and nut mix (none of that dried apricot stuff though, uck!) and usually have a fruit jelly pot with a ham/chicken salad sandwich for lunch.
I buy fruit about 3 or 4 times a year. I don`t like it as it`s too sweet for me. My New Year resolution is to eat more fruit. I`ve managed one apple so far.
I'm dangerous with some stuff though, give me a punnet of grapes and I will sit and eat the lot without thinking about it! Same with punnets of plums, strawberries, bags of fruit/nut mix etc...
I need to up my veggie count, am good on fruit and salad but need more veggies.
