Significant history; . 2009, Endocarditis, No Heart-attack, but did end up with an AVR. One symptom at the time was a feeling like a mild Electric shock on outside of thighs, hands and forearms if they were touched.
For last 6 - 8 weeks, the feeling is back in hands and forearms, very mild on right side, much stronger on left. From Little finger and ring finger across the palm and down underside of arm to elbow, uncomfortable to rest arm on anything solid, and little and ring finger are curling inwards slightly and I can't at the moment hold a fork properly when eating, I just have to wrap my whole hand round it like a claw.
I'm 62 and usually reasonably fit.
I have tried Ibuprofen by the way but it didn't help too much!

OK I am back.
Endocarditis...not as common as it used to be.
Baldric...what tablets are you taking and have you any underlying medical conditions e.g Diabetes?

Type 2, No medicines involved at the moment.
Amlodipine, Ramipril, Atenolol, Folic Acid.

Well.....difficult.

Your symptoms "could " be due to early endocarditis as you are at greater risk since having a valve replacement, but those symptoms alone without those of a fever and feeling unwell would not hurry me to that diagnosis.

I suppose that your Type 2 diabetes is well controlled.

My thoughts are, that these symptoms have little or nothing to do with your heart, but would suggest a carpal tunnel syndrome which may well be bilateral.........particularly if your symptoms are worse at night.

Go and see you Dr and he will assess the situation and possibly send you for blood tests re. under-active thyroid.

Yes Diabetes well controlled with sensible diet and plenty of exercise.
Symptoms no worse at night.
Review of Meds due next month.

Sqad, saw Doc yesterday, she's scratching her head a little tbh.
Has arranged for Fasting Bloods to be done next week and we'll take it from there.

If you have a normal stimulus and an abnormal sensation
you have a sign called hyperpathia or allodynia - I can never remember which but then I am not a neurologist.
wiki may help
and also you have a motor deficit ( cant holda fork)
and it is also left sided (ha !)

you've seen the GP - tell us what the scan says when yo have had one

I had 'Fasting Bloods' done yesterday 0930. Nurse said "Why fasting, it doesn't say that here?"
I'd fasted as I was told to, and it was also written on my appointment card, receptionist confirmed it on way out, Would have been most annoying fasting for no reason!
Now have to wait 'til next Thurs for 'Double' appointment with Doc.

Baldric, do you get any side effects from any of your blood pressure medication? Only ask because I was recently taken off Amlodipine because they caused my ankles to swell. I have to have my blood pressure once a month for the time being and the nurse said to me 'I see you haven't had your blood pressure done since December. I said 'excuse me I had it done just last week.' Blimmin doctor had taken it and not written it down and now I have to go back AGAIN! Sorry for hijacking your post and hope you get sorted and feel better soon!

Sqad, saw Doc today, all last weeks bloods came back normal, Diabetes, Cholesterol all ok, she has taken me off the Folic Acid for the time being.
Another examination, knocked around with a rubber hammer etc, she says she is uncertain of cause of problem. Back for more (non-fasting) blood tests tomorrow, and then she rang me at 1940hrs and asked me to see her next Monday morning, so the saga continues.

Booking a scan, head & neck, then appointment with neurologist.
