I bought a return ticket today and on entering the station on my way home, the barrier machine kept/ate my ticket but let me through as I'd expected.
You cant get to the platform without a ticket.
I thought nothing of it until Mr ticket collector...zooms on me (very proud of himself) - I have to charge you again. I said - How can that be fair? He ignores me.
Its a packed train and he's waiting for the criminal to pay up and my stop is coming up...not pleasant anyway I said no, do what you have to and he gave in. I think only because he had to rush to open the train doors.....but I would still be there if that hadn't happened! (I would).
Where do you stand legally if that happens though? I was annoyed but I knew I was right - what could he have done?
I've always been nervous of that happening and do my best to use the manned barriers whenever i can, pretending not to manage the automatic ones if need be. I would have been extremely reluctant to pay again.
