My 11 year old son can't sleep alone in his bed. Son wants to sleep with parents every night. How can they get him to sleep in this own room?

Start off by one of the parents sleeping with him in his bed. When he is used to that just lay with him until he his asleep. A while later just lay with him to settle him but keep checking on him. Eventually he should be able to go to sleep in his own bed. (Might still wake up in the morning and want a cuddle in parents bed though!)
Our eldest son was a bad sleeper from the day he was born.  We honestly did not get a full nights sleep until he was 3. We lived in a middle terrace house and every night, he would come into our bed but he would not go back to sleep. He just wanted to play. I was scared of him waking the neighbours so we probably made him worse by fussing.  When he was 3, we moved into a semi and we made the decision to take it in turns to take him back to his own bed every time he came in to us. It was very hard work but after a couple of weeks, he got the message.
Sorry parent.  I did not read your question properly. I read aged 1 instead of 11.
He will grow out of it but meantime leave a light on and leave the doors open to give him some reassurance and if possible leave a radio on at a low volume
