I have a google nexus 7 device and I'm not sure if it has been infected with some kind of virus. I run the AVG virus checker on a regular basis and nothing gets flagged up. I've also just downloaded the lookout virus checker as it was recommended. It's scanning now.
Do these virus protection apps just scan the apps on your device or do they scan the system itself? I'm pretty adamant I've not downloaded any malicious apps as I'm very wary about what I download, and make sure I get them from the legitimate app store. What I'm not sure about is when I've browsed the internet using the device as a few things have popped up when on certain websites that could have potentially been dangerous but I just tended to switch the device off and start again if anything like that happened.
So do these protection apps check the whole system or just apps?
There have been no real signs of infection just the occasion weird pop up from websites.
You are complicating matters by having two Anti Virus programmes ( AVG & Lookout) which can conflict with one other and cause all sorts of problems. As a starter, each one can think the other a virus.
