I guess it's not so unusual these days, but 55 years ago, my mum had my brother when she was 47 - it was quite a rarity then. I think stamina was something she'd have liked more of - but we maintain that having a late child kept her very much on the ball, she needed to keep up!
Congratulations! I was viewed as an old mum on my youngest, (I was a month off 39 when I had them). They seem to check up on you more often but it's no different to when you are younger. Have you considered the fact that you are more likely to have a multiple birth? (I hadn't, so twins was a bit of a shock).
it is good news, you will have a load more checks at docs and midwife etc, and that is a good thing.
I have my first at 37 and second at 40 and can say that the lack of sleep hit me harder than someone younger but apart from that i dont think it is any different.
Don't worry about being the oldest mum in the playgroup and stuff like that it is not uncommon nowadays and besides who cares what other poeple thinnk :-)
Just be happy and love that beautiful baby, good luck really pleased for you xxx

How exciting for you - many congratulations!
Yes, I was pregnant at 43 with my second child. I was a little more apprehensive about the whole pregnancy thing as my first child was born when I was 28 years old!
The pregnancy was a little more difficult whilst I was carrying but the birth was extremely quick and I can honestly say an enjoyable experience. Lots of care and attention was given to me because of my age, tests offered and I felt really looked after.
Now our daughter is 7 years old. She keeps us very, very young mentally, a bit more tired physically but she's growing up fast into a confident, outgoing and happy child. I think this is because we are much more relaxed and confident in ourselves.
To finish I have to say that, um, her homework is rather challenging but it keeps our brains active.
All the best to you.............x
