Hi all, does anybody know the difference between Silcocks base and Emulsifying Ointment? I suffer with Seborrheic dermatitis and about 10 years ago was prescribed a mix of hydrocortisone and one of the above. I can't however remember which is was. Any ideas please? Thanks

I cannot see what difference it would make, as hydrocortisone would mix well with both of the above.

Thank you sqad. I remember it came in a big 500g tub. If this was mixed with a standard 15g tube of hydrocortisone would the hydrocortsone be too diluted? would it be better mixed with 100g of silcocks base or emulsifying ointment?
15gms of hydrocortisone in 500gms of emolument would have the effect of p1ssing in the ocean.

15gms in 100gms would be far more sensible.

if it was really bad, why not "neat" 1%hydrocortisone?

Thought as much. Worry about the neat hydrocort thinning my skin so diluting it with sb or emulsifying oint is preferable. It doesn't dry my skin out as much as the neat to be honest. I used it neat for years and think it has done irreparable damage
;-)..OK.
