Friend of mine is on them, Psybbs, less aggressive on the after-effects. She's on her fourth cancer and they have 'repelled' liver spots and now working on hip, breast and lower spine being the opening two.
I would still surmise that she has no more than 3 years, once one of the major organs really gets zapped - she's 54.

Oral chemo seems to be prescribed for some cancers more than others. Oesophageal cancer is one of them. My Mum is just about to start oral chemo for bone spread from breast cancer. There are side effects but the treatment is not quite as drastic (hopefully) and there is not the inconvenience of having to go to hospital for hours on end.
So hard too for all of you who are friends and family when those you love are going through this - each person's team will tell them what side effects their particular cocktail may have.
With some, you need to stay out of the sun for example - my guidance based on my experiences is to ask loads of questions.
Take care all of you.x
