How Do I Forgive Someone Who Has Really Hurt Me And Offended Me

Hi there I am really struggling to forgive someone who humiliated me and put me down in my own home in front of several of my friends and it is eating me up i cant sleep ive got a sore shoulder back and neck ive got indigestion and headaches and I am really depressed and tired I need to let this go for the sake of my health but how do you forgive someone when the feelings keep on coming back constantly

You don't have to forgive them, gordie, if what they did was unforgiveable. If your friends know the score and were shocked by what that person did, it's that person's loss, not yours. You don't have to keep gnawing away at it. It's their bad manners, not yours. It's in the past, your other friends aren't going on about it, are they? - so don't have anything more to do with that person, and move on.

Gordy,I divorced my ex after 29 years,reason? He was on several dating sites,seeing younger women,then he became abusive toward's me both physically and verbally saying the most horrible things. He actually left on my birthday after begging me not to start divorce proceedings. What hurt me most was him saying he'd never been able to bond with our son as he's special needs. Almost 3 years down the line but I still can't forgive him but I'm trying to forget. I wish you luck. x

Thanks Ummm, I can honestly say I never had a clue what he was up to but him saying he wasn't able to bond with his own son was the worst. Neither of our 2 "Kids" want to know him.
